I'm back and it's a new year......

I’ve been away on my holidays in Australia since mid-December so the garden has had to look after itself. I’m happy to say that an hour’s tidying up and a bit of light hoeing had it all back in shape.

There are plenty of cauliflowers, Brussel sprouts, kale, leeks, salad, cabbages and coriander to see us through for a while longer. The freezer is still full of produce from last summer so I think the garden will be able to provide us with a good supply of food until the next growing season starts on earnest.

While we have been away the greenhouse has taken a real battering and much of the glass is broken. It all needs to be cleared out and replacing with new.ly cut pieces. That’s a job for the next few days - jet lag allowing.

I noticed that some of the cabbages have been attacked by whitefly so they’ve has a quick spray of Bacillus Thurengiensis before the critters can devastate the plants.

The broad beans ready for spring are coming along very well as are all the garlic and onions. The hens are looking good too, so all’s well.
