What's this sound?

5:30am. Yep, that’s what time this creature woke me up with a very loud and repetitive call. It seemed right outside the window so I searched around for a recording app on my iPhone which isn’t easy when you’ve taken your contact lenses out. Then I crept to the window and slid it very quietly until I could I could record the sound without shining the light of my phone outside.

This is what I heard (you might have to turn the sound up):

Do you have any idea what it is? As soon as I tried to slide the shutter and see if I could see it the creature stopped.

Later, when I went down to feed the hens they dogs were sniffing in one particular spot in line with the bedroom window. I guess it was about 15 metres from the window.
