I’ve been growing these wonderful sweet, smoky peppers again this year and they’ve been really productive. The seeds originally came from The Real Seed Catalogue in the UK but now I save my own seeds.

Sweet Ají Peppers and Garlic Halloumi

A delicious hot aperitif

Ingredients

  • 6 long slim sweet peppers - Dedo de Mocha sweet ají are perfect
  • Garlic infused halloumi in 3mm slices
  • Splash of olive oil
  • Salt & pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat the grill while you prepare the peppers - it needs to be medium hot.
  2. Halve the peppers longways and remove the seeds.
  3. Lightly drizzle with olive oil
  4. Lay sliced halloumi along the peppers and season with freshly ground salt and pepper
  5. Slide the peppers under the grill until the halloumi is a golden brown.
