Another good day in the garden

I read somewhere recently that looking out at a landscape is the best way to be happy and to de-stress. Well I’m the luckiest, happiest and least stressed person I know and maybe it’s because I look at an amazing landscape every single day. And today was no exception. My garden has uninterrupted views over the rolling hills of the Haut Languedoc National Park. From most of the garden I can’t see another building. So, today, in warm sunshine with not a breath of wind, I was able to potter along weeding and clearing the raised beds in the potager. There are fourteen so it takes a few days to do the job properly. Today I cleaned up five of them, left in plants that are still growing or producing and took out every weed. I covered them with a layer of rotted pony poo and on one or two I used the dreaded slug pellets. When you see the photos of my brassicas you’ll understand why.
