I absolutely love this time of year. The greenhouse is beginning to heat up, new shoots are appearing throughout the garden, there are buds on the fruit trees and everything looks ready for some fun.
Today and yesterday I’ve replanted the big pots outside the front of the house, planted the last of the lilies, sown three types of tomatoes and some physalis in the greenhouse, along with broad beans, mange tout and peas in the potager. The weeding in the potager is almost done – there are just four more beds to go. I’ve also repaired bits of the automatic watering system that had begun to leak at the end of last season. My body was screaming yesterday having become inflexible over the winter. It’ll get back in shape now that I’m on the case again!
Whilst I’m working I like to listen to audiobooks. I’ve just finished listening to The Woodcutter by Reginald Hill. At 16 hours it was probably too long for me. It has fantastic reviews and a great narrator, so don’t let me put you off. I’ve now moved on the The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins. I’ll let you know how I get on. I highly recommend audiobooks for taking your mind off weeding.
